What a beautiful old house! The owners Doug and Rosalie have done a great job in keeping the place up as it is listed in the National Register of Historic Landmarks. The house will surprise on the number of doors that it had. Apparently someone likes multiple doors in a room. We stayed in the Flagg room which looks exactly like the one in the website. The curved stair case make you look unto the stained glass skylight. The brass lighting fixture extends all the way down from the 3rd floor ceiling. The history of the house is fascinating. Did he build with gambling money?

The room has no TV, but we were free to view the one in the front parlor. We were there to enjoy Springfield’s annual BBQ and blues fest which is a great time for $5. The jacuzzi fits one. We bring many toiletries and there was not much room in the bathroom to spread them out. The room does not have an individual thermostat so that many be a problem if the other three rooms are full. There is wireless internet available. The bed was sturdy and comfortable with four pillows. The towels were quite soft.

Breakfast was fruit w homemade granola, orange juice, waffle w blueberries, and 2 bacon strips. Extra waffles were available.

We ate at Muldaner’s in Springfield upon the host’s recommendation. Excellent food. We loved the beet salad and corn pancakes.
